![]() ![]() Whilst the exterior of the book is in very good condition, internally the book is just good, as there are some small closed tears at top and bottom edges and some rust marks to some pages caused by a large paper clip. There is a production crease affecting the front and back boards - these are very thin as they had to conform to wartime publishing restrictions. ![]() The paper label is also beautifully clean, complete without any damage. The boards are clean and unmarked, having been protected by the dustwrapper since 1943. ***A good only copy in black cloth-covered boards, with a paper label to the spine. The book was first published in October 1940, and was something of a best-seller, going through eleven reprints in the next three years of the Second World War. Lewis at Magdalen College, Oxford in 1940 to the fore. A twelfth printing of the true first edition, published in October 1943. ![]()
